H-2B vs EB-1

The H-2B covers temporary non-agricultural jobs that require no degree; the EB-1 is the top-tier green card, for extraordinary ability, outstanding researchers or multinational executives. They sit at opposite ends of the system: the H-2B lasts three cumulative years at most and does not lead to residence, while the EB-1 is permanent and, in its EB-1A form, is filed without an employer. For a Chilean, the EB-1 carries none of the date backlogs that affect India and China.
